Celebrating 30 years of Sjóferð um sundin (Sailing through the Straits).

This spring educational programme introduces primary school students to the life of Faxaflói and the activity of the harbour - through experience, not just explanation.

Developed in collaboration with Faxaflói, the Family and Domestic Zoo, and Special Tours, the project has been running for three decades, giving generations of students the opportunity to explore, learn and connect with the harbour in a lively and engaging way.

Puffins spend most of their lives at sea and only come to land during summer.
Iceland is home to a large part of the world’s puffin population.
They can “fly” underwater using their wings to catch fish.
And yes - they’re just as cute in real life as in photos.
Seeing them in the wild is a completely different experience.
