Faxaflói Bay is absolutely alive right now - yesterday we had fantastic sightings of 20+ humpback whales, minke whales, and harbour porpoises on our tours. We‘re so happy to be back on the RIBs for 2026 🌊

And even better news... our dear feathered friends, the puffins, are back! After spending the winter months out at sea, these charming little seabirds have started to return 🐧❤️

Wow! What a start to 2026! ⭐

So far, we have had sightings of Humpback Whales on all of our Classic Whale Watching Tours in January - an absolutely brilliant start to the year! We have also been incredibly lucky with the weather, with the last time we have had to cancel a tour being in Mid December. Fingers crossed the rest of the winter is similar! 🤞

We continue to depart daily on our Classic Whale Watching at 13:00 in January, and then at 09:00 & 13:00 daily throughout February & March.

Towards the end of each year, we support the Icelandic Search and Rescue Team (ICE-SAR) at Björgunarsveitin Ársæll with the purchase of one of their "Neyðarkallar" - a collectible statue to raise money for the rescue teams.

We are proud to be longtime supporters of them and here is us collecting the statue for 2025.

The money raised helps fund:
- Search-and-rescue operations
- Training and equipment for volunteers
- Emergency preparedness across Iceland

🐋Year In Review - 2025🐋

Now our 2025 RIB Season is over, we are delighted to share our sighting success numbers from the season (1st April - 31st October). We had an absolutely brilliant year, with an overall sighting success of 98.8%!

Furthermore, we had the highest sighting success EVER for Humpback Whales, seen on 91% of tours! This is a considerable increase from last year (71%) and previous years.

We look forward to our 2026 season and are counting down the days already! In the meantime, we offer our Classic Whale Watching throughout the year, operated on the larger boats.

10:00 Tour, Tuesday 7th July.

We headed out in beaming sunshine and flat seas, pristine cetacean sighting conditions! We briefly stopped near Akurey to admire the Atlantic puffin colony before heading out into the bay. It didn't take long to spot 2 humpback whales going for some wonderful fluke dives, disappearing under the waves and popping up in rather unexpected places. As these whales were busy feeding beneath the surface, we headed towards some other blows in the distance...As we spent some more time in the area, it became clear there was a trio of humpbacks there, all feeding, changing direction underwater, but staying in the same general area. Satisfied with these sightings, we began heading back, seeing (and occasionally even smelling) some sneaky minkes in the distance, and even some blows of humpbacks. What a successful, lucky tour!
