✨ The jólasveinar: Iceland’s 13 Christmas Trolls 🎄✨

In Iceland, Christmas comes with a twist! Meet the jólasveinar, 13 mischievous troll-like characters who descend from the mountains in the 13 nights before Christmas. Each night, a different jólasveinn visits, leaving small gifts for children who’ve behaved well—or a potato 🥔 for those who haven’t been so nice!

Unlike Santa, these trolls aren’t all sweetness and light. Each one has their own quirky personality—like Spoon-Licker, Door-Slammer, or Sausage-Swiper. Over the next 13 days, I’ll introduce each of them to you and share their unique stories.

But beware: they’re not alone. Their terrifying troll mother, Grýla, and the monstrous Yule Cat 🐾 are also part of Iceland’s Christmas lore!
