What a walk today! Guests from The National Nordic Museum, Seattle, accompanied by none other than the mighty Kevin Cole from KEXP!🎶📽📻 Great guests, enthusiastic and really engaged to proceedings. Many of them had bought my book (!), Icelandic Pop: Then, Today, Tomorrow, Next Week (get it, as it's selling ... well it's selling!) and I autographed a few. Take that world famous pop stars!😜 We then bumbed into my brother, Curver Thoroddsen, musician and artist, just to prove my thesis on the so called 'village factor' as the main driver in Icelandic music culture. Pheeew!!

Ingólfur Arnarson was the very first settler in Iceland and threw two seat pillars out of his ship and decided to build his home where the pillars would wash up. They are commemorated in a square named after him in downtown Reykjavik, seen here.

I can't for the life of me connect this tale to the IT department at The University of Iceland but there they are nonetheless, enjoying a break from relentless music info-ism. As it should be!❤️🤪🧙‍♂️

This was quite special. Nat (the guy behind me), a Minnesotan of Norwegian descent, contacted me for a tour. I told him that I only do specially ordered groups at moment, for a certain start fee, and I suspected he would politely decline. But, he managed to gather a group, through Reddit I think, and here they were. Two Americans, an Italian and a Spaniard. All total music buffs so you can imagine the fulfillment we all got. I talked my mouth off. Weather conditions forced us to turn The Reykjavik Music Walk into The Reykjavik Music Talk at the tail end, and we fled the pouring rain into the rock bar Lemmy’s. Quite fitting. There we spent half an hour talking about music, music, music. I concluded our time together by telling them the story of Sigur Ros’ Ágætis byrjun release concert in the summer of 1999, at the then Íslenska óperan venue in Ingólfsstræti. That monumental event came alive at Lemmy’s patio, and my friend Nat was literally in tears by the story’s end. Thank you guys for a brilliant time, this was extra, this was “quite special”🙏❤️

What a day for a walk! The very last remnants of Icelandic sunshine graced this great group of friends from the town of Sandgerði today. A stag night ahead but everyone on a surprisingly good behaviour. Laughs, trivia and good vibes, all in good measures!🍺🎼

Smashing walk today in a lovely, well, very summery weather we could say with these scholars and academics❤️🤓 They were partakers in an international symposium organized by the Creative Industry Research Centre in Iceland and therefore had a lot of intriguing views and questions about our music industry, its place and peculiarites. And, we also remembered to laugh and live, no worries! Rock on!👊

Took my academic colleagues for a wee walk yesterday. Scandinavians AND an Englishman! The occasion being the second workshop of the Gender Equality and Nordic Music, ENMu, network. Lovely people, lovely walk, challenging ideas and refreshing insights. Fighting the good fight, as these matters have never been as important as right now!👊

Oh, what a happy day🌞🫶 The first of the 'summer' walks I would say, in an absolutely pitch perfect weather. Maybe because we enjoyed the luck of the Irish, as there were three members of that tribe, which was sent to us from heaven as we all know, in the group💚🍀🎩

This joyous gang was mostly made up of friends that partake in the noble sport of netball. Lovely time was had, a lot of singing and laughing and talking. Great stuff! I'm stoked I have to say, DM me, PM me or call me if you want to order a tour for your group!☎️
