Puffin season is slowly coming to an end! 🐧💛

💚 Northern Lights season is so back!

The darker nights have returned to Iceland, and the aurora season is already off to a beautiful start. Last week, we were lucky enough to catch some fantastic displays dancing across the sky. ✨

The aurora is a natural phenomenon, so every night is different. Some nights we get luckier than others, but seeing those first colours appear in the Icelandic sky is always something special.

🫐 It’s berry-picking season in Iceland!

From August into September, Icelanders head into the countryside for berjamó, the much-loved tradition of picking wild berries.

The most common finds are bog bilberries (bláber), bilberries (aðalbláber) and crowberries (krækiber). You’ll find them growing wild across heathlands and hillsides, ready to eat straight away or turn into jams, juices and desserts.

It’s one of those simple late-summer traditions: fresh air, stained fingers and probably a few more berries eaten than actually make it into the bucket. 🫐😊

One of Iceland's biggest summer celebrations is just around the corner! 🇮🇸

Verslunarmannahelgi, or Merchants' Weekend, takes place on the first weekend of August. What began as a holiday celebrating Iceland's merchants has become a beloved long weekend filled with camping trips, family gatherings, and festivals. Thousands head to Þjóðhátíð in Vestmannaeyjar, while others stay in Reykjavík for the Innipúkinn music festival.
