What a day for Iceland — and for all of us at BusTravel Iceland!

On August 12, hundreds of guests joined us in Snæfellsnes for an unforgettable Total Solar Eclipse — with BBC News sharing the excitement LIVE with viewers around the world.

From Bogi Guðmundsson speaking with the BBC as anticipation grew, to Icelandic musician Guðrún Árný joining them as the eclipse began, we were proud to share a little piece of Iceland with the world.

And then came the moment we had all been waiting for: daylight faded, the landscape transformed, and hundreds of us experienced it together!

Over six hundred people joined us for the Solar Eclipse tour yesterday! 🌑☀️ Iceland is Iceland, with its character and weather 😄 and yes it was cloudy ☁️ But we made the best of it! We took in the beauty of West Iceland, listened to live music, sang along, and experienced this rare event together. I was truly unforgettable! We thank everyone who joined us and made this day even more special! 💕

🌈 Reykjavík Pride is happening this weekend! 🌈

The streets of Reykjavík will fill with rainbow flags, music and celebrations as people come together for Reykjavík Pride. The highlight is the Pride Parade on Saturday, 8 August, starting at 2 PM by Hallgrímskirkja, followed by a concert in Hljómskálagarður.

Pride is about celebrating love, diversity and the freedom to be yourself — something that has become an important part of life in Iceland.

Iceland has strong legal protections for LGBTQ+ people. Same-s*x marriage has been legal since 2010, and discrimination in areas such as employment is prohibited on grounds including s*xual orientation, gender identity, gender expression and s*x characteristics. Iceland also continues to rank among Europe’s leading countries for LGBTQ+ rights.

For a country known for its dramatic landscapes, this weekend Reykjavík shows another side of Iceland: a colourful, welcoming and inclusive city where everyone is encouraged to be themselves. 🌈🇮🇸
