Winter Vibes We are now at our darkest days in Iceland! Today it was a photographers paradise because the light was amazing even when the weather was more than unpleasant but the pictures of the landscape and the horses were amazing. Don’t you agree?

Cold season has started 🥶 Even it is more then 10 degrees minus here up in the North our horses are not cold in their winter fur. They enjoy the short time of sunlight and try to eat as much as possible 😁.
For all of you that wonder we still have our short tour „Viking Ride“ open all winter in the hours of daylight. If you are around and want to do a winter wonderland ride to visit the waterfall Reykjafoss, book with us and we are happy to welcome you here at Hestasport!

Foal season has startet. ❤️
Völuspá frá Víðidal and Folda frá Vindheimum gave already birth and are proud mamas 🎉. You might be able to see them around the fields if you join a riding tour with us! Father of these beautiful girl and boy is Stapi frá Stokkhólma.
Can you guess which one is the mare and which one is the stallion? Let us know!

As we are entering full winter season, we are hard at work preparing next summer long tours.
We are very happy to say that our week long tours are all fully booked, it means a lot to us to have your trust. We still take waitlist reservation.
You can still join the 3-4 days long tours.

In the meantime, our daily tours are still going, in a wonderfully frozen landscape. Keeping warm with confortable riding overalls.

Nature has been incredibly nice this past 2 weeks, with clear skies, days and nights. A perfect weather to experience winter riding, but also a great time to watch the northern lights. From inside our coat cottages or directly in the hot tub, there is no better place to watch them.

This Saturday we took part of the annual horse round up in Laufskàlarètt.
A very special experience for all of our guests in the best weather we could have hoped for.

We are happy to share with you a few shots from the event.
No matter how good they are, they will only give you a glimpse of what it is all about.
This traditional event, is just something that has to be experienced.

It starts around 10 in the morning with hundreds of riders coming from every directions to herd the young horses back from the mountain to the corral.
Then the sorting starts in a very joyful vibe, often with a lot of singing.
And finally around 3pm farmers start herding their horses back to their farms.
