It turned out to be even better than we imagined. Instead of a frozen, snow-covered surface, we got to truly experience the glacier — spotting deep crevices, shimmering blue ice, and crystal-clear streams and pools. Ice Climbing on a glacier in Iceland will forever be one of my top adventure memories!! One of the best days ever!
We watched massive chunks of ice break away, floating into the lagoon below… and felt the urgency of knowing this glacier is shrinking by around 40 meters each year.

It’s the city’s biggest celebration commemorating Reykjavik’s birthday, mixing art, music, food, and community into one unforgettable day. This year we celebrate on 23 August. The best part for you? Almost everything is free!
