Something extraordinary is happening above Iceland. 🌑✨

On August 12, the Moon will cross in front of the Sun, creating one of the most spectacular celestial events of the year.

📍 From Reykjavík:
You'll get to experience something even rarer, a total solar eclipse. The partial eclipse begins around 4:47 PM, with totality starting at approximately 5:48 PM and lasting just over one minute, before ending around 6:47 PM. 🌑

📍 From Vík:
The eclipse will be visible from around 4:49 PM to 6:49 PM, reaching its maximum at approximately 5:50 PM, with almost 99% of the Sun covered. 🌒

Whether you're exploring the South Coast or watching from Reykjavík, Iceland's skies are putting on a show.

August 12. Look up. 💙

⚠️ Remember to use certified eclipse glasses and never look directly at the Sun without proper eye protection.

Hello, August! ☀️💙

August is one of the best months to experience everything Iceland has to offer. Summer is still in full swing, the landscapes are lush and green, and adventure is waiting around every corner.

Here's what you can expect in Vík this month:

☀️ Weather: Mild temperatures, typically between 10–15°C (50–59°F), perfect for exploring without the summer heat.

🌅 Daylight: On 15 August, you'll enjoy around 16 hours of daylight, with sunrise at approximately 5:40 AM and sunset around 9:30 PM.

🐧 Puffins: It's one of your last chances to see these iconic birds before they head back out to sea later this month.

✨ Northern Lights: As the nights slowly get darker, there's a chance the auroras will begin to make their return towards the end of the month.

🏔️ Highlands: August is one of the best times to explore Iceland's Highlands while mountain roads remain open.

🧊 Katla Ice Cave: Discover the only natural ice cave in Iceland that can be safely visited all year round.

🪂 Zipline in Vík: Soar above the stunning landscapes of Vík and experience South Iceland from a whole new perspective.

🏎️ Summer adventures: From buggy tours and glacier hikes to e-bike rides and unforgettable day trips, August is made for exploring.

🌿 Nature at its best: The moss is still vibrant green, wildflowers are blooming, and South Iceland looks as magical as ever.

If you're visiting Iceland this month, get ready for long days, incredible adventures, and memories you'll never forget. Which experience is first on your list? 👇💙
