Un dialogo raro e affascinante: l'arte contemporanea che si misura con la sacralità della Cattedrale di Agrigento. Torna l'artista catanese Benedetto Poma con 'La Confessione di Fedra' opera site specific già capace di emozionare nella Sala dei Sarcofagi.
A seguire, ore 20.30, la presentazione del nuovo bookshop in Via Duomo 96: non un'appendice, ma un ulteriore tassello nel percorso di crescita di un Museo che sa guardare avanti senza dimenticare le proprie radici.

A rare and fascinating dialogue: contemporary art measuring itself against the sacred spaces of Agrigento's Cathedral. Catanese artist Benedetto Poma returns with 'La Confessione di Fedra', a site-specific work that already moved audiences in the Hall of Sarcophagi.
Following at 8.30 PM, the presentation of the new bookshop at Via Duomo 96: not a footnote, but another step in the growth of a Museum that knows how to look forward without forgetting its roots.

🎨 FERNANDO BOTERO - L'INCANTO DEL MITO
Valle dei Templi, Agrigento

🇮🇹 Le figure inconfondibili di Botero, piene, solenni, sospese nel tempo, dialogano con i templi dorici di Akragas. Otto sculture in bronzo tra i monumenti dell'antica Grecia, diciassette opere su carta e tela negli spazi intimi di Villa Aurea.
Un incontro straordinario tra due linguaggi della forma: quello millenario della classicità mediterranea e quello universale del Boterismo.

🇬🇧 Botero's unmistakable figures, full, solemn, suspended in time, enter into dialogue with the Doric temples of ancient Akragas. Eight bronze sculptures among the monuments of ancient Greece, seventeen works on paper and canvas within the intimate spaces of Villa Aurea.

Una delle feste più amate nell'agrigentino è la festa di S. Calogero: monaco eremita e santo guaritore dalla pelle color dell'ebano. Calogero giunse in Sicilia dal medio oriente nei decenni successivi al crollo dell'Impero Romano d'Occidente, un epoca in cui regnava il caos, la carestia e la pestilenza. Si prese cura dei malati e li sfamò raccogliendo pane che gli agrigentini gli lanciavano dalla finestra per paura della peste. Calogero conquistò le anime e i cuori della gente con la sua opera e nessuno mai la dimenticò. Tanto che ancora oggi, dalla prima alla seconda domenica di luglio, antiche consuetudini, misticismo e profonda fede cristiana si intrecciano nelle celebrazioni sprigionando un'energia incontenibile che culmina nel grido popolare: viva San Calò!

One of the most beloved festivals in Agrigento is the feast of St. Calogero: a monk hermit and saintly healer with ebony-colored skin. Calogero arrived in Sicily from the Middle Easty in the decades following the collapse of the Western Roman Empire, a time of chaos, famine, and pestilence. He took care of the sick and fed them by collecting bread that the people of Agrigento threw out of their windows for fear of the plague. Calogero won the hearts and souls of the people with his work, and no one ever forgot it. So much so that even today, from the first to the second Sunday of July, ancient customs, mysticism, and deep Christian faith intertwine in the celebrations, releasing an unstoppable energy that culminates in the popular cry " long life San Calò"!
