Any changes that make your holiday a better experience has got to be good.

When travel was allowed again after the pandemic, contactless check in was actively encouraged. Over time though key boxes have become a blight in major cities.

We really enjoy being able to welcome our guests and answer any initial questions that may have been missed from our guide book. The new CIN process should make short term rentals more of a level playing field. So next time you book here in Italy, check your accommodation has a CIN number.

It’s officially truffle season here in Monferrato. The world famous Tartufo Bianco D’Alba runs from the 12 Oct to the 8 December. It’s really is a spectacular event with cooking classes, taste workshops not to mention the exceptional food and wine also on offer thought the city.

Closer to home we have the Moncalvo Fiera del Tartufo. Truffles have been here since 1594! Moncalvo celebrates everything truffles across 2 weekends in October when the smallest city in Italy comes alive.

Where will you be for Christmas 2024?

Funnily enough I was in Torino yesterday. I still think it’s great to be able to get a train (and a seat) in to this beautiful city for 5€. It only takes half an hour from Asti. Then this interesting article pops up in The Independent telling the virtues of Piedmont.

This article in The Telegraph captures perfectly why this “shoulder” season is a fabulous time to visit Italy.

Here in Monferrato there are so many festivals and Christmas markets to explore. The famous, Alba White Truffle festival is on now until the 3rd of December.
Closer to home the Moncalvo 69th Truffle Fiera is on this Sunday and the 29th.

I know, we live here so are biased but if

is your thing, this place is heaven. We’ve ridden for 4 hours today mainly off road under the shade of the trees. We hardly saw anyone and the views were jaw dropping.

Throwback Thursday

The making of the ground floor at N°18

Originally it was 3 separate spaces, stables, storage and an open fireplace for making “succo di pomodori” Rich tomato sauce to be bottled and stored for use throughout the year. It took some sandblasting to get the soot off the vaulted ceilings.

Keep Sunday Special

Creating a special place where families and friends can create wonderful memories of a fantastic holiday was our mission. During the search for the right house it did feel like Mission Impossible (excuse the pun but we’ve just been to Milano to see the film, don’t miss it) In our 3rd year with so many happy guests it feels like Mission Accomplished.
