Just had a fabulous 24 hours at stunning Castelluccio as Mum and Dad had a day off from work. It’s great fun there and there’s lots of space to run around for us dogs just make sure you don’t go into the fields with the pretty flowers and lentils!

There are two camper stops which were both quite busy and would be really busy at the weekend. But it’s very peaceful after all the crowds have left, and we did lots of lovely walks. The camper stop near the horses and riding school is free and there are portable toilets and water but there is another camper stop further up towards the town.

Please do go and support Castelluccio as it was badly damaged in the earthquakes and still needs to be repaired, but the people need an income and totally rely on tourism. 

A magical place and a photographer’s paradise in July when the fioritura is in full swing!

Such a gorgeous little girl in Maya’s canile in Alcamo. She can be rehomed in central and northern Italy. Please can somebody give her a forever home. She’s so beautiful ♥️

Today we took Gemma and my Aunty and Uncle to the beach at San Benedetto. We had a lovely picnic then a walkies along the beach almost to Abruzzo. It’s free to stay at the moment but there are charges in June, July, August and September (see the sign!). It’s one of my favourite places. And the humans said their Sicilian gelato was really good. A great spot to camp overnight if you are hiking in our Sibillini National Park. So many trails to choose from and great restaurants nearby too!

The boats 🚤 ⛵️🚤⛵️are coming to my favourite lake!

SAILBOAT COMPETITION ON LAKE SAN RUFFINO
May 6th & 7th, 2023

The annual snipe-class sailboat regatta returns to Lake San Ruffino, a lake lying between, and shared by, Amandola and Monte San Martino. The land event takes place on the shores of Monte San Martino. For those of you who are not familiar with Lake San Ruffino, it is a picturesque area surrounded by rolling farmlands and, in the background, the imposing Sibillini Mountain range. While enjoying the sailboat competition, you can also enjoy the location by having a picnic on the meticulously-kept lawns or by strolling along the shoreline in order to savour the flora and fauna. You will also find stands selling local products and crafts. An added asset are the two well-respected restaurants available to you: the “Osteria del Lago” (for reservations, call Luciana 0733 660477 or 339 8456083) and the “Trattoria Vecchio Moro” (for reservations, call 380 2901880).

Consider visiting the surrounding towns. The Pinacoteca (Painting Gallery) of Monte San Martino with its artistic treasures is open on both Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. For visits outside this time frame, please call 331 2314715 or 331 231 4718. The Museum of Natural Science in Smerillo is open on both Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. For more information, call 328 9455977. If you wish to visit the anthropogeographic museum or learn about any event in Amandola, please contact 0736 840731.

This year there are two intriguing novelties: the “Nighttime Regatta” on Saturday at 9:00 P.M. which will prove to be a memorable occasion and the “Concert of Javier Girotto” on Sunday at 6:30 P.M. in the Church of the Madonna delle Grazie in Monte San Martino. This church is renown for its aesthetic beauty and for its frescoes dating back to the 1500s. Javier Girotto, an Italian-Argentinian, is both a saxophone and a flute player as well as a composer and an arranger. His repertoire includes tango, jazz, classical music and Argentinian folklore music. You will be enchanted by his talent. This concert is free of charge but you must book on the website of Eventbrite: eventbrite.it. To complete this experience, enjoy a pre-concert aperitif at Bar Jodalido 0733 1680112 or 339 8620240 or, after the concert, a scrumptious supper at Ristorante Dei Priori 0733 660209 or 338 5995723, both of which are located in the historical centre of Monte San Martino.

These two fun-filled days are a great way to kick off the summer season!
