Days Out - a little further out at just over an hour from , but a place like no other. Santuario Madonna della Corona clings to the side of a mountain at 775 metres above the valley of the Adige River. Breathtaking! Take the local roads to get there and back and avoid the motorway to make the most of the surrounding area

Sentiero del Ponale, a must do walk to see part of the steep cliffs that fall down into Lake Garda as you head out of Riva del Garda down the west side. Views that would be otherwise hidden as you race through the tunnels of rock in a car. The Sentiero is the original road that joined Riva to the Ledro valley. It is a gentle climb for the first couple of kilometres, but with children in tow, we didn’t make it all the way to Ledro which would be a good 2hr-2:30hr hike (not forgetting getting back again). Even if you turn back part way, it is worth it though

Rainy Days don’t have to leave you bored. If you have access to a car the new Muse Science Museum in Trento is well worth a visit. Just 40mins drive north this museum was opened in the summer of 2023 and boosts modern interactive exhibits for the family, an incredible collection of life like animal models and breathtaking butterflies in its Tropical House. Recommended! Even on a sunny day as a way to escape the heat for a few hours.

Need to burn off the pasta, pizza and gelato calories? Arco has many options for bicycle hire. Choose a mountain bike, city bike or even an electric bike and then decide if you go south towards Lake Garda or north through the Valle del Sarca as shown. The route is made up almost entirely of safe, car free cycle paths and takes in breathtaking mountain and river views, meanders through vineyards and olive trees and through a protected natural reserve. Get all the way to the town and Sarche and back and you have racked up nearly 40km. Time for another well earned gelato.

'La Passeggiata Serale’. Treat yourself to an evening ice cream from one of Arco's delicious gelaterie and walk off a few calories along the peaceful and car free Via delle Magnolie. Never more than a 5 min stroll home to

View from behind the 'rock. Arco's rock and castle are so often photographed from the front.
But there is a beautiful view from behind too.
Take a stroll north out of Arco to check out some of the sheer climbing rock faces and take the scenic route back to town, off the road and on the initial rocky paths at the foot of the mountains. An easy 30-40 min round trip from depending on how fast you fancy to take your day.
