Yesterday we took a group for another of our wonderful creative workshops in Atessa. This time it was fabric painting with ArtigiAmalia , and it was a seamless and soulful experience for all. The day kicked off with a wander through Atessa to visit a secret historic church that houses an exhibition of International artists contemporary artwork based on water. Anna Pia explained the meaning behind some of the artworks on show which gave the group their inspiration for the mornings workshop. Afterwards they headed to B&B ex Albergo Centrale Atessa where Gabriella and Amalia were waiting and the workshop commenced. Everyone channelled their inner artist and even those not so confident in creating had to agree that Amalia's patience and clear explanations with a bit of translating by Max gave them the confidence to express themselves on the fabric with the fabric paints and brushes.
They re-fuelled twice because of course all the concentration had built up a good appetite! Firstly with a coffee break where a soft and delicious lemon cake was served and for lunch they ate fresh out the oven delicious and pillowy pizza, homemade savoury pastries filled with local cheeses and meats and fresh and creamy mozzarella, all made by Gabriella's fair hand.
The day was a huge success, new skills learnt, tummies full and happy, a few more Italian and dialect words to impress the neighbours with and more secret places discovered around hidden corners.

Please contact [email protected] for information on up coming calendar events and private group lessons and workshops.

Yesterday we didn't just bake we stepped back in time thanks to Gabriella and Amalia in Atessa. Our Zeppole di San Giuseppe workshop was a beautiful flour dusted success! Whilst we piped the perfect swirls of crema pasticcera on the freshly baked pastries and topped them with the moreish amarena cherries in syrup, we were treated to something truly special. Amalia ArtigiAmalia read the story of the zeppole in dialect and explained afterwards the meanings behind the origins of this delicious 'Fathers day pastry'. There is a certain magic to hearing Abruzzo history told in the language of it's ancestors, and nothing brings people together for laughs and chiacchera (chit chat) than an extra dollop of custard served on top of a zeppole!
A huge thank you to those who joined us at our 'ABRUZZO IN BOCCA' workshop, and once more to Gabriella and Amalia for their beautiful and welcoming hospitality.
Did you miss out???? If you are interested in joining us for more workshops and relaxed Italian chit chats together, then please comment below or e mail [email protected] Private workshops can also be arranged for 6 people or more.....

One of the most satisfying parts of my job is finding the genuine Abruzzo and its Authentic people. As part of our monthly calendar, i have been working on a project for quite some time, and on Tuesday finally it all came together.

In a secret location 17 of us met and were absolutely overwhelmed with what we saw. The day was all about "Vintage on two wheels, and F1 wine". Our first stop was at a large private collection of motorvehicles, motorbikes and memorabilia spanning almost 100 years.
What we saw was the PASSION, LOVE, and DEDICATION of its owner in the pursuit of a DREAM, an A DREAM INDEED IT WAS.

Not many people are aware of what an important part Abruzzo played in motorsport history. For instance Enzo Ferrari's 1st race victory was in 1924 on what is still recorded as the longest F1 circuit in the world, took place here in Pescara, and it is also where Sir Stirling Moss won the 1957 F1 Grand Prix. The circuit is known as the "Coppa Acerbo" and on our way to the winery, we drove along part of this route and stopped to admire the monument remembering the famouse race.

On a beautifully warm and sunny day, with endless blue skies we arrive at Podere Castorani Winery, absolutely stunning. We were welcomed by Donatello who guided us around the estate, and explained all the different stages of the wine making process to us.

Castorani Winery is a 100 hectar organic estate that was brought back to life with the help of Jarno Trulli, former F1 driver, and winner of the Monaco F1 Grand Prix in 2004. His car is on show and impressively and proudly stand in the main lobby.

In the tasting room we sampled 5 of their best wines alongside a delicious 4 course lunch. As a final surprise i organised and had the pleasure of introducing , trademark owner of the Coppa Acerbo, who gave us a hint of something exciting in motorsport celebtations coming to Abruzzo next year.
THIS WAS THE PERFECT FINALE TO A PERFECT DAY.

If anyone is interested in this particular excursion then it can be arranged with a minimum group of 8 people, please contact me for details [email protected]

‘The Story of author Dani O'dell ’A journey from Orange County in California USA, to Abruzzo in Italy in the search of Faith, Hope, Destiny and Belief…….

‘’Hi Max, we are planning a trip to Italy and Passucci International Travelhave been highly recommended, we are so happy to have found you, you have such great reviews’’………And this is how the build up to two great days last week in the company of Dani and her husband Dean began. Her published book ‘The Miracle of Santarem’ Threads of Gold is the first in a series she is writing on Faith, Destiny and Belief. Her second book has brought her on a discovery and research tour to Abruzzo and the Eucharist Miracle of Lanciano, and to me. She was here to learn of Abruzzo’s traditions, Paganism and Catholicism and questions on Faith which are still very much part of this region today.

The next two days were filled with interesting discoveries and facts. We met with Massimiliano, who for 18 years has been curator and guide of the Museum of the ‘Eucharist Miracle’ and he told the story of the miracle in the 7th century chapel where it had taken place. We met with Historian , writer and mosaic artist Mr Luciano Spigoletto, storie d'oggi e del passato. who told us the history of Lanciano and together we visited the Diocesan Museum which contains an outstanding collection of sacred art, relics, books, and precious jewellery spanning nearly 1000 years. It is also home to a small painting depicting a second Eucharistic Miracle that took place in Lanciano know as "La Ricciarella, that many people, including Dani, are unaware of. I had told her the story of the second miracle and so she was thrilled to have seen the painting and then afterwards visit the site where it had taken place. What was also interesting was that this 2nd Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano, had taken place 450 years after the first one and also happened around the same time, and was very similar, to the miracle she had written about in her first book ‘The Miracle of Santarem’ which had happened in Portugal.

It was a beautiful day, 21 degrees, so our next stop took us to the Trabbochi Coast and the 11th century Abbey of ‘San Giovanni in Venere’ who’s far reaching views are jaw dropping and afterwards a delicious gelato as a reward in Dora’s famous café………

Day two took us to Mannopello and a visit to the famous Pilgrimage site and sanctuary of the’ Volto Santo’ where a powerful image of the face of the resurrected Jesus Christ is on display Afterwards, and with a small tweak to the itinerary, I suggested we meet with historian Anna in Atessa. Together we visited the Cathedral of San Leucio and learnt of its legend of the dragon that perfectly explains how the many civilizations that populated Abruzzo, alongside their beliefs before the arrival of the Romans and Catholicism, profoundly shaped this region as we know it today.

Anna, historian, geologist and an amazing person, today gave Dani all the answers she was looking for on this research trip to Abruzzo for her new book.

Thank you Dani O'Dell for choosing us PPassucci International Travel it was a great pleasure to meet you and spend our days discovering Abruzzo together.
