The average annual temperature in Italy has increased by 1.8 degrees Celsius over the last 15 years. The warming rate is most marked in the north of the country, where temperatures rose by an average of 2.3 degrees Celsius between 2015 and 2025, while in the capitals of central Italy it was 1.9 degrees, and in southern Italy 1.3 degrees.

These are the new data from the Index compiled by Il Sole 24 Ore with 3bmeteo. For the third consecutive year, Bari leads the way in climate quality: the Apulian capital is followed by several towns on the Adriatic coast, such as Barletta-Andria-Trani (in second place, whose data refers to the average performance of the three capitals), Pescara, Ancona, and Chieti.

The top ten are mostly coastal areas (including Livorno, Trieste, and Imperia), but also include some high-altitude cities (Pesaro and Urbino, as an average of the values ​​recorded in both urban centers, and Enna). Potenza ranks 14th out of 107 provincial capitals, with Matera 39th.
