Taste of Life Tours

Taste of Life Tours From Day Tours to Custom Designed tours we will organise an epic gastronomic expedition through Northern Italy's famous Barolo and Valle d'Aosta regions.

My name is Robert Gherardi, and my home town is the famous Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. When I am not creating wine under my label Mr Barval Fine Wines you will find me and my family in the spectacular Barolo Region of Northern Italy. After years of working as a winemaker for some of the leading producers in both Australia and Italy I have combined my love, passion and interest

s to make wine in Australia for 6 months of the year and take guided food and wine focused tours in Northern Italy for 6 months. I

My family’s origins lie in the Valtellina region of Lombardy, directly north of Milan. Along with my wife Kellie and two daughters, Lilly and Daniella we love living and working in the Barolo zone and experiencing the amazing gastronomic offerings of this famous region. We want to show you some of the true delicacies and greatest producers from this corner of Italy, as well as some of the hidden gems which we have come across during our time spent there. Come on a tour of Italy with us. You won’t be disappointed.

The last supper tonight for our Salone del Gusto Tour group. Culatello and Costata di Fassone with a couple of gracefully ageing beauties - 1993 Marcarini Brunate Barolo and 1982 Produttori di Barbaresco. Both wines in impeccable condition and a real treat to share with our guests at Le Case Della Saracca

Getting the low down on proper Balsamic production by Sandra Cocchi of Acetaia San Matteo. In a packed hall she took the time to explain to@our clients the very involved process of artisan balsamic production. The 7yo was great, the 10yo even better, the 15yo got ti levels I didn’t think vinegar could go, and the 30yo extra old was ethereal (can you use that word for vinegar?) and a precious little flask is coming him with me. Oh, and the ‘not for sale’ microscopic sample of a 1904 balsamic was just rediculous!
