We went out exploring in Bucine, Tuscany. We checked out the Brolio Castle and stumbled upon an outdoor festival in Villa a Sesta called Dit Unto. There was live music, high-end finger foods and lots of friendly Tuscans enjoying the day. We love when we discover these little gems off the beaten path.

There are over 1200 varieties of olives worldwide. Over 400 of those trees are native to Italy. Most olives start off green, turn purple and then black. It just depends on when they are picked. The jet black olives you can find in a can at the grocery store are usually picked green then chemically altered to make them so dark. Normally, they turn dark brown or purple when left on the tree.
Here are the olives on the tree in October in Tuscany. The colors are plentiful!
