Wherever you are in Bologna, look up toward the hills.
San Luca is probably looking back at you 👀

Maybe that’s why the city keeps climbing up to it. You’ll share the arches with runners at dawn and families on Sunday mornings. Step after step the hills open up on your side and Bologna gets smaller below you.

If you’re walking it too, these are our pit stops:
🏞️ Villa Spada sits on Via Saragozza, just before the climb. Its upper meadow puts the whole historic center at your feet.

☕️ Bar Billi is right under the Meloncello arch and has barely changed since 1953. Get a cappuccino and a cornetto before the steps, or a spritz on your way back down.

🍝 Once you’re down, waits by the arch with tagliatelle al ragù. If tigelle are more your thing, makes them by hand on your way back to the center.

The sightseeing in Parma is excellent. We just have our own idea of what counts as a sight 👀

Parma likes to call itself a theatre and the food is easily one of its main characters. Take the Prosciutto di Parma. Here it tastes sweeter and more delicate than anything you’ve had by that name. And that’s no accident. It’s made in the hills just south of the city and cured slowly with nothing but salt and the air up there.

But a vacuum-sealed pack back home will never tell you that. You have to taste it where it belongs, cut by someone who knows the person who made it. That’s why we keep the group small and walk you into the local botteghe like we’re introducing you to the secret of our ancestors. You better come hungry!

After all, how can you visit the city without a proper lunch?
The marble can wait at least for an hour 🗿
