Derreen Gardens - a botanical garden on the Bara peninsula. Most surprising was the constant sunshine on our visit today. Are we really in Ireland, we kept wondering! A very personal, magical place.

Villa Fort France - an explosion of color and texture contained by strong structure. The bones were laid out by Lay Fortescue about 100 years ago, rare specimen trees planted by a previous botanist owner. The current owners have tended the garden with an eye to colour and form for the past thirty years. It is a gem.

Villa Noailles in Grasse - water, water everywhere! springs tumbling down from the mountain make this garden lush . Steep terraces, originally for the cultivation of olive trees bring structure. Winks to Italian, Arts&Crafts, and formal French gardens make this mature garden memorable. And the views across the valley - Beguiling.
