In South Tyrol we say “laifain” when we share great moments in good company. That’s our way of making guests discover our beautiful region.

As part of our experience ambassador program, recently we had the pleasure of guiding the receptionists of Parkhotel Laurin and Hotel Greif along the laifain KulTour in Bolzano.

We started with a brief insight into the historical origins of our diverse culture, the lively trading activity in Bolzano from the Middle Ages up to now.

The great diversity of culture, architecture, fashion styles, is visible around Bolzano. We discovered the peculiarities of the Alpine and Mediterranean lifestyle under the arcades, in the Museion , in the Gries district, by enjoying a coffee at Arôme by Thaler with the unique view over the roofs of the old city centre.

Our scouting mission across keep rolling this summer

🍷🍇 We recently visited Loacker Wine Estates a winery located on a small hill overlooking the city of Bolzano

In 1979, Rainer Loacker boldly started the first organic vineyard. Despite the scepticism of the local wine producers, he was able to establish the Loacker wine estate as one of the most ambitious and celebrated in the region.

Today, Rainer’s 3 sons, Hayo, Franz Josef and Hannes, run the wineries, sharing their father's pioneering spirit, commitment, and rebel heart.

One of our latest scouting missions was at the historic BaronLongo wine estate

Local winemaker and current estate manager Anton von Longo-Liebenstein took us on an exciting tour of Palais Longo, the historic family residence located at the top of a hill surrounded by 20 hectares of vineyards.

At Baron Longo, the centuries-old winemaking family tradition goes back as far as the 1600s. Before Anton took over the management role from his father, the grapes harvested by the family were sold to local wineries. He then decided to produce wine autonomously according to the precepts of organic viticulture.

The extraordinary wines of the Baron Longo winery, with their unique character and flavour, are the result of a combination of the excellent quality of the grapes and the characteristics of the terroir, combined with great passion and a constant commitment to strive for excellence.

🐷 Two of the regional products you’ll find in the basket come from Obertimpflerhof. Lying amidst the idyllic landscape of the plateau, this farm is well-known for producing high-quality speck meat and sausages…and rearing pretty happy pigs!

At the Obertimpflerhof farm, the animals can roam freely in a wide outdoor area and are fed with GM-free, natural feed. The meat is then processed by hand on the farm using traditional methods. A great local example of sustainable farming practices!

Capriz Feinkäserei is a cheese dairy in the Val Pusteria valley specializing in the production of fine goat's and cow's milk cheeses

💯 At Capriz ensuring the highest quality throughout the production process is paramount. That is why the dairy uses milk originating from small pastures that are close to the production site. Building a deep trust with the farmers is therefore fundamental to manufacture the region’s finest cheese

The next picnic items we want to present come from Stanglerhof

Stanglerhof is a biological farm located in St. Konstantin, a small village near the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park.

The farm is run by Heiner Kaibitsch who managed to create a unique space for organic agriculture and a lively hub for cultural events.

The Stanglerhof motto is "local, open, fresh" and it applies to its culinary products as well as the events it regularly hosts

In our gourmet basket you’ll find two Stanglerhof delicacies: Rosemary syrup and fig mustard
