Countdown - international design platform The first edition is devoted to the topic of UP-CYCLING. The UP-CYCLING edition happens in 2012 in Bolzano, South Tyrol, (Italy)

COUNTDOWN is an international design platform aiming to exploring and supporting brand new researches, experimentation and emerging experiences in the fields of contemporary design. It develops through a show-in-progress, a designer in residence, site-specific and material-specific projects, and it will end with an auction: so the COUNTDOWN marks all the creative process, from the realization of the artwork by the designer till the confrontation with the market and the alienation to the collector. It concerns not just a re-use of trash, but also a new and different use of obsolete and waste materials, ri-qualifying then, by inventing a new function or creating a whole new product.
