Every September, Anacapri celebrates the Settembrata Anacaprese, a traditional festival born to celebrate the grape harvest and local culture.

For a few days, the streets come alive with music, food, local products, traditional costumes and events that bring the island’s heritage to life.

🇺🇸 THE MOST TALKED-ABOUT HOUSE IN POMPEII

It’s one of the most famous — and most curious — places in ancient Pompeii.

The Lupanar was a brothel, and what makes it so fascinating today is how much it reveals about everyday life in the Roman city. Its small rooms, stone beds and especially the erotic frescoes have made it one of the most talked-about buildings at the archaeological site.

Almost 2,000 years later, it still attracts plenty of curious visitors. And honestly… can you blame them?

🇺🇸 MOUNT VESUVIUS ISN’T IN NAPLES. REALLY.

We often say “Vesuvius in Naples,” but technically, the famous volcano isn’t located within the city of Naples.

It rises east of the city, surrounded by towns such as Portici, Ercolano, Torre del Greco and others in the metropolitan area. Pompeii lies further southeast, at the foot of the volcano.

From Naples, its unmistakable silhouette dominates the horizon — which probably explains the confusion. 🌋

Did you know that?

🇮🇹 IL VESUVIO NON È A NAPOLI. DAVVERO.

Siamo abituati a dire “il Vesuvio a Napoli”, ma tecnicamente il celebre vulcano non si trova nel territorio della città di Napoli.

Sorge a est della città ed è circondato da comuni come Portici, Ercolano, Torre del Greco e altri centri dell’area metropolitana. Pompei si trova più a sud-est, ai piedi del vulcano.

Da Napoli, però, la sua inconfondibile sagoma domina l’orizzonte: probabilmente è anche per questo che nasce l’equivoco. 🌋

🇺🇸 WHY DOES MOUNT VESUVIUS HAVE TWO PEAKS?

If you've ever looked closely at Vesuvius, you may have noticed something unusual: it has two peaks.

The higher one is the cone of Mount Vesuvius. The ridge surrounding it is Mount Somma, the remains of a much older volcano.

Over thousands of years, powerful eruptions reshaped the landscape. The famous eruption of AD 79 dramatically changed the volcano, while later eruptions continued to shape the profile we see today.

That's why Vesuvius has its unique two-peaked silhouette: it's the result of thousands of years of volcanic history.
