Zieht ein Gewitter auf, erklingen in Kastelruth traditionell die Glocken des Kirchturms. Das sogenannte Wetterläuten ist ein alter Brauch des Alpenraums. Man glaubte früher, dass der Klang der geweihten Glocken Unwetter und Hagel fernhalten könne. Gleichzeitig diente das Läuten als Warnsignal für die Bevölkerung. Bis heute ist das Wetterläuten ein besonderes Zeichen gelebter Tradition und erinnert an die enge Verbundenheit der Menschen mit ihrer Heimat und der Natur. ⛪🌩️

Quando si avvicina un temporale, a Castelrotto risuonano tradizionalmente le campane del campanile della chiesa. Questo cosiddetto “Wetterläuten” (suono delle campane per il maltempo) è un’antica usanza dell’arco alpino. Un tempo si credeva che il suono delle campane consacrate potesse tenere lontani i temporali e la grandine. Allo stesso tempo, il suono delle campane serviva come segnale di allarme per la popolazione.
Ancora oggi, il Wetterläuten è un segno speciale di tradizione viva e ricorda il forte legame delle persone con la propria terra e con la natura. ⛪🌩️

What is behind the tradition of ringing the bells during storms in Kastelruth?🔔⚡️
When a thunderstorm approaches, the bells of the church tower in Castelrotto traditionally ring out. This so-called “weather ringing” is an old custom of the Alpine region. In the past, people believed that the sound of consecrated bells could keep storms and hail away. At the same time, the ringing served as a warning signal for the local population.
To this day, weather ringing remains a special expression of living tradition and a reminder of the close connection between people, their homeland, and nature. ⛪🌩️
