This week we said goodbye to Summer 2022.

We enjoyed the sun, ate well and spent time with our most important people.

The Castle of Donnafugata was once a noble residence occupied over time by several noble families. The Castle was built in neo-Gothic style, dates back to the 14th century. Donnafugata literally translates into “The woman who fled”.

The castle is a fantastic day out with tickets costing 10euro for the castle, park and museum. Tickets are valid for 7 days.

There is much to see with the castle having 120 staterooms and a beautiful terrace with sweeping views out to the sea.

The park is over 8 hectares in size with a mix of gardens, picnic areas and a labyrinth

Last but not least the museum is dedicated to displaying the clothing from the 18th century to the present day.

The beauty of staying at La Casuzza Di Luigi means that you are never far away from some of Sicily’s best sights. Whether you want to stay in the local area or sightsee further afield out we are well placed.

One of the places you must visit is Ragusa Ibla, A beautiful baroque town which can be dated back to 1693. The town is part of the Val di Noto A UNESCO Heritage site. Baroque highlights include the Duomo Di San Giorgio and Il Giardino Ibleo. You will also find some fantastic restaurants, wine bars and boutique shops.

Who else loves visiting markets? 🙋In the summer (From July-September) Casuzze has its very own food market held every Wednesday. Here you can find fresh fruit and vegetables, local cheeses, meat and fish. Expect to come out with more than you came for!! 😁

A trip to Sicily is not complete without tasting the famous Sicilian Cannoli 😍, Did you know the type of ricotta used varies depending on what part of the island you are on. The province of Ragusa uses mainly cows milk rather than sheeps milk, there are subtle differences in taste and texture. These beautiful cannoli were freshly filled at Agriturismo degli Altopiani, A farm around 15 minutes drive away. The farm has a restaurant open to the public where you can try their delicious cheeses used in various dishes.

La Casuzze di Luigi is our home located 750metres from the beach.

The home is named after my late father Luigi who spent many happy summers in this town.

The towns of Marina Di Ragusa and Punta Secca are both close by which makes this location great, It also is quiet and calm.

Casuzze has many amenities such as supermarkets, restaurants and bars. Bicycle hire is also available and Casuzze has a wonderful cycle path to Marina Di Ragusa which goes along the coastline.
