Palermo Discovery walks, a Jewish Heritage treasure hunt, and then diving into the world of healthy fermentation with Ildikó — creating the most beautiful fermented veggies, kombucha & drinks along the way. 🥒🍵

Now off to Belgium for some family time and a big milestone celebration! 🇧🇪💚 Back in September, ready for more adventures.

🌋 ETNA: The other day we finally went up Mount Etna — and wow.

Black volcanic rock, steam rising from the ground, views for miles… standing on Europe’s most active volcano never gets old.
She’s alive, she’s unpredictable, and she’s absolutely stunning.

Legs are wrecked, but 100% worth it. 🥾

Day 7: Taormina

Saved the best flex for last. 😎

Taormina showed up and showed out — Isola Bella sparkling below, the ancient Greek Theater stealing the show with those views, and yes, we swung by the spots made famous by White Lotus (had to). 📺✨

Granita in one hand, pane cunzato in the other — this is how you close out a 7-day Sicilian love affair. 🍋🥪

💙👙🌋☔️👍 Sicily’s Hidden Secrets - 7 days Sicily trip / August 2026 (Part 2)

🏁❤️ Day 1-3 ✨
We kicked things off in Palermo, than up to Monreale, where the cathedral left us completely speechless. 🏛️
And another Beauty: Cefalù — sun-soaked streets, that jaw-dropping coastline, and a slice of pure Sicilian calm after all the city buzz. Swim, wander, repeat. 🌊☀️

⛵️💙 Day 4-6 ✨
Time to trade cathedrals for coastline — we set sail from Milazzo to the Aeolian Islands and let Vulcano & Lipari work its magic. 🌋⛵
Two days of pure island life:
hopping into impossibly blue water whenever the mood struck, chasing sunshine & try local delicacies. 🍋🍞
A little rain rolled in for good measure — but we have survived 🌦️😂

Now back on Sicilian soil, salt-crusted and sun-tired, ready to pick the tour back up.

We kicked things off in Palermo — a city that hits you with chaos and charm in the same breath. Bustling street markets, centuries of layered history, and street food that ruined all future street food for us. 🍊🥙

Then up to Monreale, where the cathedral left us completely speechless. Gold mosaics for days. You walk in expecting a church and walk out feeling like you time-traveled. ✨🏛️

🕍✡ Palermo’s Jewish history isn’t just in old letters and hidden mikvehs — sometimes it walks right beside you.

On my latest Jewish Heritage tour, I met a Sarafino — carrying an old Hebrew name, - she came to Palermo to trace her Jewish family roots to the late 1500s.
She shared how so many “hidden” Sicilian - Jewish traditions survived generations within her family, passed down quietly through food and recipes — still alive 600 years later! Amazing!

Moments like this are why I do this work: uncovering not just stone and history, but living stories.
