Abbiamo insegnato nella sua università a Pollenzo e continuiamo a condividere quelle idee di fondo, visionarie eppure applicabili, a cui con il nostro lavoro cerchiamo di garantire un giusto riscontro nella realtà.

Today, in the town of Bra (Italy), Carlo Petrini passed away at the age of 76.

A visionary leader and public intellectual with a profound commitment to the common good, human relationships, and the natural world, Carlo Petrini founded Slow Food, the international Terra Madre gathering, and the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo. Through these initiatives, he brought to life a global movement rooted in the values of good, clean, and fair food for all, connecting communities, farmers, food artisans, cooks, activists, and young people across the world.

“Those who sow utopia reap reality” - a phrase Carlo Petrini loved to say - encapsulates his life. He firmly believed that dreams and visions, when they are just, capable of inspiring collective participation, and pursued with conviction, are not impossible to achieve.

He combined the ability to dream with a deep sense of joy and collective purpose, paving concrete paths toward social change. His work was always rooted in collaboration with others, especially younger generations, and guided by passion, empathy, and fraternity.

His energy, his determination, and his lifelong dedication to others will remain a guiding force for the entire Slow Food movement and for all those who shared his vision.

🆕 The City of Venice is pleased to announce that the next Cross-Border Online Workshop will officially take place on Wednesday 29 April at 10:00.

The meeting represents a crucial step for WP4 and will focus on defining the strategic tools that will ensure the future of territorial cooperation. The day’s agenda includes an in-depth examination of three key themes:

- The Cross-Border Strategy
- The Action Plan
- The Project Manifesto
📆 The partners will work together to translate the results achieved into sustainable and scalable actions, incorporating local contributions to ensure their effectiveness and international relevance.

On my way to the shelter I found a big birch tree about a mile up the trail covered in scars from hikers celebrating themselves by carving their names into it. I saw the same hubris and self-interest that erects monuments on top of mountains, vandalizes sacred sites, and pollutes my homeland. It’s ego carved on living trees. The more loudly people announce their presence on the land, the quieter the voices of the ecology and its caretakers become.
