Freud freely admitted that poets and playwrights discovered the human unconscious long before psychoanalysis ever gave it a name.
Starting November 7, in collaboration with The Freud Museum London, we’re opening our 3 week virtual reading room: Freud, Shakespeare & The Merchant of Venice.
🎟️ Early Bird registration is officially open! Save $30 when you register before Sunday, Oct 11 at midnight.
The Merchant of Venice lays bare the psychic impact of marginalization, the deep seated trauma of societal prejudice, and economic debt, examining how human beings defend, retaliate, and cope when forced into the role of “the outsider”. Shakespeare mapped out the psychological costs of societal exclusion long before clinical theory had a name for it.
We won’t be sitting through boring PowerPoint slides. We’ll be reading key scenes aloud, examining Freud’s original essays on Shakespeare, and engaging in deep, collaborative discussions.
If you want an intellectual respite and 6 continuing education credits for your clinical practice, or if you are simply a curious seeker, this is for you.
