La Grottesca è un genere decorativo parietale del Rinascimento, caratterizzato da intrecci fantastici di figure ibride, animali e motivi vegetali.
Il nome deriva dalle antiche pitture scoperte nelle “grotte”, in realtà le stanze sotterranee della Domus Aurea fatta costruire dall’imperatore Nerone 🏛️(Definizione basata su Treccani)
