🚩Every tour has a story… and sometimes, that story includes meeting someone who has made history.

During one of our Florence tours, we had the honor of welcoming , former U.S. Army Ranger, author, and one of the soldiers involved in the historic —the event that inspired the acclaimed film .

Recognizing him was an unexpected surprise, and we were truly grateful when he kindly signed a copy of his book for us.

Calcio Storico Fiorentino is one of Italy's oldest traditional sports, originating in Florence in the 16th century. It is played annually in Piazza Santa Croce on a sand-covered field and is a combination of soccer, rugby, and wrestling.

Four teams representing Florence's historic neighborhoods compete:

📍Azzurri (Santa Croce)
📍Bianchi (Santo Spirito)
📍Rossi (Santa Maria Novella)
📍Verdi (San Giovanni)

Each team has 27 players.
The aim is to score a "caccia," or goal, which means bringing the ball into the opponent's goal.

The match lasts 50 minutes, and physical contact is a key part of the game.

Over the years, we've brought many tourists to see the match. If you'd like to join us, send us a DM and we'd love to hear from you!
