Such a beautiful day in Chianti Classico today with the loveliest couple, celebrating their engagement-moon all the way from Washington, D.C. ❤️🍷

You know, one day in Chianti Classico really is only scratching the surface of this fascinating wine region and its incredible producers… but we certainly do our best to squeeze in as much magic as possible. 😉

One of the sure signs that harvest season has arrived in Tuscany: Schiacciata all’Uva 🍇
This wonderfully rustic Tuscan treat only really appears at this time of year, when the wine grapes are ripe and ready for harvest. Traditionally made with bread dough, plenty of grapes, sugar and olive oil, it’s sweet & juicy, and with just a scent of rosemary.
Today it appeared at the end of a beautiful wine tour lunch in Chianti Classico, prepared for us by an amazing private chef. And really, could there be a more perfect harvest-season dessert?
Wine in the glass, grapes in the schiacciata, vineyards all around us. 🍇🍷
This is why we love eating with the seasons in Tuscany. Some things are worth waiting all year for.

Harvest is on! 🍇

Down in the valley areas especially, and very soon up in the hills too.

Today we got to measure the sugar content of the grapes with a refractometer at Le Fonti Panzano …and judging by those numbers, the berries are getting very close 😅🍷

There are wine tours… and then there are Proposal Wine Tours. 💍🍷

These days take a little more planning than most — choosing the right winery, finding the perfect spot, coordinating the timing, keeping the secret, and making sure everything falls into place without giving anything away.
But we absolutely love doing them.

Because this isn’t just another special day in Tuscany. It’s one of the biggest milestones in a couple’s story — that wonderful moment before “Will you marry me?” becomes “We’re getting married.”

And somewhere in the background, among the vineyards, wine glasses and Tuscan hills, we get to play a tiny part in making it happen.

We like to think that, years from now, when they tell the story of how they got engaged, there will always be a little piece of Tuscany in it.

And a little bit of Grape Tours too. ❤️🍇

There’s something magical about summer evenings in Chianti…

A table filled with all the things we love: a beautiful chilled white, bruschette, local salumi and Pecorini, sweet melon with prosciutto, and an amazing zucchini flower flan…

It’s all about the aperitivo with friends at sunset!

Today marked the first day of harvest for some of our winery partners! 🍇

They were out in the vineyards early this morning, picking white grapes before sunrise.

We don’t have footage of those first picks, but we’re certainly excited to know that our winemakers are responding quickly to what this very hot summer is bringing.

In some areas of Tuscany, that means an unusually early start to the harvest - picking while the grapes still have the freshness and acidity they’re looking for.

And so, the 2026 vintage begins… 🍇

Most people think Chianti Classico regulations specify oak barrels.
They don’t.

They simply state how long the wine must age before release.

That means producers are free to choose the vessel that best expresses their philosophy:

• oak
• chestnut
• concrete
• ceramic
• stainless steel

This traditional farmer still prefers large chestnut botti—a reminder that Chianti Classico has always been about the wine, not the container.

The regulations define time. The winemaker chooses the journey.

Some dinner parties end with dessert.
Others end with discovering that one of your friends can turn a Champagne capsule into a tiny chair... 🍾🪑

One minute we’re chatting over a beautiful dinner in the Chianti countryside, the next we’re all gathered around watching miniature furniture come to life.

Living in Tuscany is full of moments like these—unexpected, wonderfully creative, and of course best shared with friends.
🥂 Here’s to good company, a bottle of wine, and a fun party trick that can surprise everyone 😜

Today we say goodbye to one of Italy’s true wine legends, Emidio Pepe.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of bringing many wonderful guests to visit his family winery as part of our Umbria, Marche & Abruzzo Grapetrotters journey. It was always one of those places where you completely forgot the conventional wine world—a winery that wasn’t just about making extraordinary wine, but about preserving a philosophy.
Emidio welcomed generations of wine lovers into a world where tradition was fiercely protected and modern winemaking was largely ignored; where patience was the key to the evolution of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo.
Walking through the cellar, witnessing the family’s dedication, and sharing those moments with our guests has been one of the great privileges of my life in wine.
His legacy will live on in every vintage, in the hands of his family, and in the countless people he inspired to see wine not as a product, but as a living expression of place and time.
Rest in peace. 🍷
