Indeed the basilica of Santa Croce is one of our favourite churches in Florence!
Almost 300 graves are visible on its floor, and burial monuments are lined up along its walls.
Do you know of any famous people buried here? 😉

In the Hall of the 500 in Palazzo Vecchio there are some statues representing the Twelve Labours of Hercules.
Hercules is a symbol of strength like Florence was at that time, but Hercules and the twelve Labours was also adopted by the Medici. They were strong and powerful, but they had to go through several struggles to maintain their power in Florence, like just Hercules did.
