FORA Charlotte Chapter ✨ ✈️
Being a part of a community was something I didn’t necessarily imagine when I first entered the travel space. We’re a diverse group of travel aficionados supporting each other and growing side by side; how NEAT is that?

Every month, we take the convos out of the chat with our meet ups and workshops, and the last one was held at a fellow advisors brick and mortar travel store in Camp North End !

In typical Keely’s Wine Routes fashion, I poured wine and chatted about my favorite vineyards and producers, and highlighted FORA partner hotels in those regions. One of my favorite things about wine is its connection to regional culture and how easy it is to hold a conversation around it; this gathering was yet another prime example of that.

Though my Portuguese experience was wine focused, the itinerary also leaned heavily into gastronomy. And rightly so! Food and wine go hand it hand, and you cannot experience a wine fully until there’s a bite or plate in front of you.

Southern Portugal is filled with fresh seafood, meat, vegetables, bread, and olive oil. Over 8 days, I never had a repeat dish- a feat I consider impressive.

May I present… the highlights: 🍽️

•bread in quilted warming blankets, served alongside olive oil and/or stew
•meats and cheeses to start off literally every meal
•Migas, a mashed potato-like consistency made up on bread crumbs, garlic, herbs, and green vegetables
•Pastel de Nata, a slightly sweet egg custard that serves as a perfect snack or breakfast treat
•Fio de Oros, thin strands of egg yolk and sugar
•Skate (similar to stingray) best when added to a pot of potatoes and lemon broth
•Black Pig (free-range Iberian pigs who eat acorns)
•Ox Tail
•Beef Cheek
•Pig Tongue
•Licor de Bolota (sweet liqueur from Acorns)

Make sure you stop by in Camp North End for all sorts of goodies.
A fellow advisor opened a brick & mortar travel store to satisfy all your adventure needs, from toiletries to location souvenirs to clothes.
My favorite part? The new provisions market where you can score items for your pantry. I walked out with Italian Olive Oil, French Chocolate, and even a dozen rainbow eggs from a local farm!

Our ladies are ready for Portugal! 🇵🇹

Last night, eight friends and much loved regulars of Foxcroft joined us at Southpark to cheers to their upcoming trip to Portugal led by local guide !

🍇 The trip will include touring the historic countryside, sipping wine with vintners overlooking the landscape, exploring UNESCO World Heritage sites, snacking on Petiscos, and enjoying vineyard picnics- sounds like the ideal trip to me!
