Erica Barker, Magnolia and Palm Travel Co. Hi, I’m Erica — a travel agent with a planner’s brain, a foodie’s heart, and just enough overthinking to make your vacation seamless.

I don’t plan dream trips — I plan your kind of trip: well-paced, delicious, and totally you.

I’ve been to Bimini before, so I already knew about that Kool-Aid blue water.
For our Bimini stop on this Celebrity sailing, I didn’t plan this one. One of the agents I’m traveling with has been to Radio Beach before and basically said “trust me, I’ve got it.” So I did.
But then she sent me a video and I was like, yep, we’re doing that.
No big excursion. No overthinking it. Just an easy beach day at a spot someone I trust has actually been to.
That’s the whole point. You don’t have to guess or scroll for hours trying to figure it out. You just go.
First time at Radio Beach for me. I’ll report back 🌊

Let's talk about Nassau for a second.
Historically? Kind of a skip. Most of my clients either stayed on the ship or I'd scramble to find something worth their time.
Royal Caribbean opened the Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island in December — and yes, Celebrity guests can access it too. The catch: it's not included. You're looking at $170+ per person just for the day pass with open bar.
I'm going this week to find out if it actually delivers. Because recommending a $170+ add-on to clients is a big deal, and I don't do that without seeing it myself.
More to come. 👀

If a cruise is going to lose me…
it’s usually the food.
So I’m going into Celebrity Cruises a little skeptical 😅
I’ve heard they do this better…
but I’m not here for “good for a cruise.”
I want to know if it’s actually good.
So here’s what I’ll be paying attention to onboard:
• main dining vs specialty (is it worth upgrading?)
• consistency (is one great meal a fluke?)
• and would I confidently recommend it to my foodie clients
No fluff reviews over here.
I’ll report back honestly 👀
👉 Food matters to you on vacation… or are you more about the destination?

Let’s be honest…
“Concierge” sounds fancy, but what does it actually mean?
When we booked our concierge balcony on Celebrity Cruises, I wanted to know the same thing.
Here’s what it includes (and what I’m excited to test):
• priority embarkation (aka less waiting to get on the ship 🙌)
• a dedicated concierge to help with dining, reservations, and onboard plans
• better stateroom location (mid-ship = less motion, more convenience)
• upgraded amenities + little extras in the room
• access to a private concierge lounge
Nothing over-the-top…
but a lot of small things that can make the whole trip feel smoother.
And that’s really what I’m looking for:
Not necessarily more luxury…
just a better overall experience.
I’ll let you know what actually feels worth it once I’m onboard 👀
👉 When you travel—do you care more about the room, or the extras that make things easier?

I already know Celebrity Cruises is nice…
that’s not the question.
I want to know if it actually feels worth it.
So here’s what I’ll be paying attention to:
• Does it feel crowded?
• Is the food actually good… or just cruise good?
• Do the rooms feel like a hotel or a ship?
• Is it relaxing… or just quieter chaos?
Basically—I’m testing it the way my clients would… not the brochure version.”

“I have a lot of clients who say:
“I want something elevated… where the vibe feels more grown up, but still fun.”
So I started digging into Celebrity Cruises Edge Class ships…
And I’ll be sailing on the Celebrity Ascent in a few weeks to see if it actually lives up to the hype.
Because on paper?
It looks like the sweet spot.
I’ll report back 👀”

Real talk—this Hawaii trip did NOT go as planned.
Weather issues, last-minute changes, backup plans…we’ve worked through all of it.
And we’ve been in touch every single day adjusting as we go.
Because somewhere along the way…this stopped feeling like just another trip.
This client became a friend. And I’ve been just as emotionally invested in this experience as they have.
So when they sent me this sunset from their luau 🌅
I just about cried.
Because I know what this week has felt like…
the stress, the disappointment, the “are we even going to get the trip we dreamed about?” moments.
And this?
This felt like a little glimmer of hope. ✨
That reminder that even when things don’t go as planned…
there are still beautiful moments waiting for you.
That’s why working with a travel advisor matters.
Not for the easy, picture-perfect trips.
But for the ones that need a little extra care, a lot of pivoting, and someone who’s truly in it with you.
Because when things shift (and they will),
you don’t just want someone who booked it…
you want someone who cares. 💛

If you want a “book it and hope for the best” situation…I’m not your girl.
But if you want someone in your corner the entire time?
You know where to find me ✨

This weekend was a reminder that travel does not always go according to plan.
Over the last few days, I helped clients work through flight cancellations, weather issues in Hawaii, a missing bag on arrival, and confusion over a hotel charge at checkout.
None of those things are fun, but this is exactly where having a travel advisor matters.
My job is not just to book the trip. It is to help clients figure out the next step, sort through the noise, advocate when needed, and keep stressful situations from feeling even bigger than they already do.
Sometimes that means finding a new flight in time for an important event. Sometimes it means reworking a whole itinerary around weather. Sometimes it simply means helping a tired traveler know exactly what to do next.
Travel is wonderful, but it is not always predictable. And when the unexpected happens, having someone in your corner makes all the difference.
If you want support before and during your trip, I’d love to help.

There’s a big difference between booking Disney and designing Disney.
The goal isn’t to add more to the trip.
It’s to shift the budget into the things that actually make the experience smoother.
Closer resorts.
Strategic upgrades.
Built-in rest days.
That’s how theme park trips start to feel a little more VIP and a lot less exhausting.
If you’re planning Disney or Universal, I’d love to help you build it the smart way.
