Like a lot of you, I’ve been sitting with the news about Dolly.

There’s something about the way she lived; completely, unapologetically herself, rhinestones and all, that feels like it belongs in the “words to live by” file for anyone trying to figure out how to take up space in the world without apologizing for it.

Here are a few of her quotes that stuck with me most (swipe through the carousel), but this one especially: “When I say I don’t care what you think about me, I do care what you think about me…as long as you care enough to know who I really am.”

That’s the whole thing, isn’t it? Not caring what people think isn’t about shutting everyone out, it’s about only handing your peace of mind to people who’ve actually earned the right to have an opinion.

You know that feeling when you’re just walking along, minding your business, and then you look up and go “oh.” 😂 That’s the Kelpies for you; 100-foot steel horse heads in Falkirk that absolutely do not prepare you for their scale until you’re standing right under them. Here’s the thing about booking a solo trip, the people who’ve never done it always seem to have the most opinions about it. They’ll tell you it’s not safe, not practical, not “you.” Funny how that never comes from the women who’ve actually gone.

Good morning from Scotland! ☕️🏴‍☠️ I’m up early, waiting on the rest of the group to arrive, but one woman got here a day ahead of everyone else, and last night we got to talking about why I built the UNtour the way I did: solo occupancy standard, one excursion a day, and real time built in to rest and explore on your own terms.
