There are just a few Florentine artisans who can still give shape to their imagination using semi-precious stones. The "commesso fiorentino" is a very old techique, consisting in inlaying thin veneers of semi-precious stones selected for their colour, opacity, brilliance and grain to create elaborate decorative and pictorial effects.

The Chimera, a beautiful Etruscan bronze sratue in the Archeological museum.

This is one of the pieces I love most, at the Archeological Museum. It's an Etruscan broach and it was found in the tumb of a nobelman in Banditella, Grosseto. It dates back to the seventh century b.C., and the gold ducks are still shining. Amazing!
