I am delighted to be part of this Bookmarks' event with Ms. Frances Mayes who will be discussing her new book, See You in the Piazza. I hope to learn more about new places to discover in Italy so I can share them on future trips with you. I hope you can join me. I will be introducing Ms. Mayes and leading the Q and A. Day 7 of tour of Tuscany and Umbria. Started early and headed to the umbrian town of Montefalco , home of the Sagrantino grape. The town was beautiful. We had time for delicious gelato as we walked the town. We then headed for lunch and tasting of wine at Arnaldo Caprai followed by a tour and tasting ar Paolo Bea. Then back home to the villa for another yummy meal by Stefano and star gazing.

Day 6. The amazing and lovely hill town of Orvieto. Our guide was Giovanni again and what a font of knowledge he was and so smart and funny. We then went to a former monastery located on a hill looking toward Orvieto whose cathedral was visible. Now the former monastery is the vineyard and winery Decugnano dei Barbi. In the former chapel we had a cooking class and we all a hand in making of dinner. Dinner was delicious.

Day 5 of remembering our first italy trip. Leisurely start then off to vineyards and wineries in Montalcino. First stop Fattoria Dei Barbi and the Brunello museum with lunch. Then off to the lovely hilltop vineyard and winery of Poggio Antico. We return to villa for more Italian language and culture lessons pool side and then lovely dinner. Post dinner most of the group would hang out by pool for daily night star gazing and international space station orbit watching. Oh there was a little bit of wine then too.

Day 4 we headed to Casa del Cioccolato Perugina for tour of the "chocolate factory" and tasting. Nothing better then sampling chocolate for breakfast. Then returned to the villa for lunch and dip in the pool. We then headed to the Salcheto winery for a tasting of amazing reds followed by tour, wine tasting and private dinner at Avignonesi. Fun day and delicious dinner and magical evening.

Remembering Italy. So day 3 we visited the charming town of Cortona. We then dined at Ristorante Hotel Portole, which is owned by a delightful and welcoming family. They were so kind and the food and service were excellent. We then we to a local winery outside Cortona called Azienda Agricola Baldetti which opened just for our group and had a fun winery tour and marvelous tasting. We returned the villa for relaxing and dinner.

Dreaming italy day 2 one month ago. So we departed Florence in the morning and headed off to Greve in Chianti -gateway to the Chianti Classico region. We walked around the sweet town then had delicious lunch at enoteca ristorante gallo nero. Then we headed to our villa outside Cortona which was our home base of the next 7 days. There we settled in, took dip in the pool and tucked into amazing appetizers then dinner prepared for us by stefano and his lovely staff. Oh there was some wine flowing too.🥂🍷🍷

Can it be one month since the start of our tour on Friday july 20th? Reliving the day - we had a free afternoon in florence while we waited for the rest of the group to arrive. I went to my favorite stationary store -il papiro. Then enjoyed gelato with Sam Troy. We then had a welcome reception followed by tasty dinner at the wonderful Hotel Montebello Splendid. The staff was excellent and so gracious and accomodating. I recommend the hotel wholeheartedly.
