One of my favorite parts of hosting at Casa di May is seeing guests discover a side of La Spezia they weren’t expecting.

Many arrive thinking of Cinque Terre or the famous attractions nearby.

Then something interesting happens.

They spend a little more time in the city, wander through its streets, stop for a coffee, and begin noticing the stories hidden in plain sight.

That’s when La Spezia starts to feel less like a stopover and more like a destination.

One of my favorite things about La Spezia is that the best moments are rarely planned.

This weekend? Oyster Fest.

Fresh oysters from all over Italy, local wine, and that beautiful feeling of slowing down.

My favorite was Tarbouriech, La Perla del Delta, the perfect balance between salinity and softness, beautifully meaty and incredibly flavorful.

Honestly, this is exactly the kind of local experience I love recommending to Casa di May guests. Because the best trips are not only about seeing Italy… but feeling it.
