Update
Every once in a while, Eszter pulls off a true tour de force when she makes a video.
Yesterday, she teamed up with our guide Gabriella to create what I believe is one of the finest videos we have ever produced.
Together, they took on magnificent Palermo.
As I watched the video during the editing process, it became clear to me that these two special ladies had created something truly special.
Of course, what did I expect? Two special ladies. A special video.
It will charm you if you have previously walked the streets of Palermo, and absolutely flabbergast you if you have not.
The video is that good.
Readers of my books may recall Gabriella. Thirteen years ago, I wrote about her in Figghiu Beddu in a section titled Modern Sicilian Superwomen.
This was in the pre-Eszter era. Gabriella was then a young and talented guide just beginning her career, working for another company that also stopped at Roberto's Café Sikelia. Over time, we became great friends.
Little did I know that years later she would team up with Eszter and become part of a powerhouse duo for You, Me & Sicily.
Together, they helped us build what I believe are some of the finest tours in the business.
Over the years, Gabriella married and became a mother. Her knowledge deepened. Her English became virtually flawless. Her enthusiasm and love for Palermo, Monreale, Bagheria, and the treasures of Western Sicily elevated her into one of my favorite guides of all time.
And somehow, whenever she and Eszter appeared together on camera, magic seemed to happen.
Just as importantly, they became fast friends, with our travelers reaping the benefits.
This video is, in my opinion, their best work yet.
You will experience a part of Sicily through the eyes of two professionals who are at the very top of their craft, while I sit perched high atop a tree with the smile of the proverbial cat that ate the canary.
If you watch this video we just published on You Tube, I suspect you'll find yourself watching it again somewhere down the road.
Well done, ladies.
Well done.
