I've been noticing a shift in travel lately, more and more people wanting the ease of a guided tour, but without being one of 40+ people on a coach.

And honestly, it makes sense. Small group travel has been quietly becoming one of the biggest shifts in how people want to see the world. A group you can actually get to know. A pace that leaves room to wander off and find your own moment, not just tick off the next stop.

It's part of why I've been paying attention to Trafalgar's Small Group Tours - a brand a lot of you already know and trust, now doing it in a more intimate way. Groups capped at 18. Local experiences that wouldn't be possible with a full coach (think family-run wineries, home-cooked meals, conservation centres you'd never find on your own). Still guided, still easy, still that reassurance of a proper Travel Director, just with more room to breathe.

Some of my own favourite adventures have been on small group tours, so I know first-hand what a difference it makes. It's the kind of format I'd genuinely recommend to a friend who wants the ease of guided travel without losing the personal, local feeling that makes a trip stick with you.

A quick update if you're flying long-haul with TUI ✈️

From 1 November 2026, TUI is changing how alcohol works in Economy on long-haul flights. Soft drinks stay free and unlimited throughout the flight, and you'll still get one complimentary beer or wine with your main meal, but any extra alcoholic drinks after that will need to be bought from the onboard menu, with a wider range on offer.

If you've already booked before this was announced, TUI is automatically applying a £12.50 goodwill payment per adult, each way, so up to £25 per adult on a return holiday. No action needed on your end, it's applied automatically.

Premium cabins aren't affected, complimentary drinks continue throughout the flight as normal.

Not a huge change, but I know a few of you have holidays booked with TUI this year, so wanted to flag it early.

There's a type of place I keep coming back to when I'm building trips for people.

Not the big names. Not the obvious ones. The towns where the streets are narrow and the evenings are slow and you find yourself thinking why doesn't everyone come here?
