Tonight we celebrate Festa di San Lorenzo in beautiful Puglia, a night where faith, stories, and the cosmos meet. ✨🍷
Why do we look up at the summer sky on August 10?
💫 The Night of Shooting Stars
The Perseids, called the “tears of San Lorenzo” here, light up the sky. Some say they are linked to the fire that burned Saint Lawrence, or to his tears from heaven. This night is full of wishes, love, and wonder.
🙏🏻 Honouring Saint Lawrence
Saint Lawrence was a church leader who gave the Church’s wealth to the poor. On August 10 in the year 258, he was killed for his courage, burned on a grill after saying the poor were the true treasures of the Church.
🍷 On the Night of San Lorenzo, it’s not only about watching shooting stars, it’s also the perfect excuse to drink Primitivo wine! They also call this night Calici di Stelle (“Glasses Under the Stars”), local towns come alive with music, tastings, and laughter. People gather in the warm summer night to enjoy the rich, bold flavors of Puglia’s famous wine while making wishes under the starry sky.
Salute! Cheers! 🍷
