A wine-focused 10-day Sicilian escape, we curated with for Rachel and Sandra, brought us to the sunlit western edge of the island - Marsala, where sea breeze, salt, and history shape the wine scene.
We stepped into the atmospheric cellars of , one of the true guardians of Marsala’s identity. While others followed commercial trends, De Bartoli stayed loyal to indigenous grapes and authentic traditions - an inspiring legacy still carried forward by his family today.
Our tasting journey moved through Grillo, Zibibbo from Pantelleria, and the iconic depth of Vecchio Samperi, alongside Marsala Superiore Oro Riserva and the poetic Passito “Bukkuram.”
Between winery visits, we wandered the shimmering salt pans, where salt is still harvested as it has been for centuries. 🦩🧂 Just nearby, we visited natural winemaker , where a homemade Sicilian lunch and his raw, expressive wines from Grillo, Catarratto, Zibibbo and Nero d’Avola were served with sweeping sea & vineyard views. 😍
Marsala remains one of Sicily’s most underrated wine regions - quietly powerful, deeply authentic, and impossible to forget. 💛
