The Garibaldi Apartment is over the 2nd and 3rd floors. The Sicilian House also specialises in travel consultations. Good Friday procession, Polizzi Generosa 2019…tradition and reverence.

A note:
This year’s Good Friday procession was cancelled due to rain. The sacred rite though was held in the 18th century abbey Santa Maria delle Grazie situated on via Carlo V where the statue of the weeping Madonna is housed. 🙏 Maria Culletta

The streets and piazzas of Polizzi strung with Christmas lights and the silence of the winter fog descends.

We are ready for Christmas at Palazzo Notar Nicchi as we welcome guests to stay. Our Christmas wreath hanging on the front door was made by our manager Maria.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas. A time filled with joy, peace and goodwill.

The Sant’Orsola Apartment in Palazzo Notar Nicchi, beautifully captured by for our recent new website ✨

Our Story
In September 2003, Suzanne, her husband Gaetano and youngest daughter, Eugenie left Brisbane Australia with a list of Sicilian towns in search of an old Sicilian house. They fell in love with Polizzi Generosa and bought centuries old Palazzo Notar Nicchi. It was almost in total ruin and over the course of the next 8 years, undertook a passion-filled restoration of the house.

The second solemn procession of the 705th Festival of San Gandolfo, on the evening of Sunday September 21st.

Veneration and the carrying of the exquisite silver bust through the medieval streets of Polizzi Generosa. The bust is an intricate Gaginian work of art depicting San Gandolfo. It contains sacred relics.

The festival is sacred and filled with utmost devotion and tradition.

Saturday 20th September, the first procession of the feast of San Gandolfo, Polizzi Generosa’s patron saint.

The humble wooden statue of San Gandolfo is carried, with devotion, through the village streets from his hermitage outside Polizzi to the village’s main church…Santa Maria Maggiore.

The Feast of San Gandolfo is a three day celebration - fervent, solemn and much loved.
