I giardini di Villa dei Roseti
I giardini sono frutto della passione degli ultimi due proprietari della casa che hanno scelto con amore fiori e piante di numerosissime varietà, per fare in modo che in ogni periodo dell’anno ci fosse qualcosa in fiore. Si susseguono fioriture talvolta esuberanti, a volte più discrete e negli anni sono state collezionate parecchie rarità, in gran parte classificate con il nome scientifico.
Si è prestata anche grande attenzione a selezionare piante robuste che avessero alcune caratteristiche e cioè la resistenza alle rare gelate invernali ma soprattutto ai periodi di siccità estiva assai frequenti, altrettanto come a periodi di intensa pioggia nelle stagioni intermedie. Altro criterio selettivo è stato quello di avere bordure perenni rifiorenti, sempreverdi e che si autoriproducessero, in modo da non dover fare altro che interve**re con lavori di ordinaria manutenzione.
Il giardino sotto casa è più formale e ha una grande vasca con i pesci rossi.
Un discorso speciale meritano le rose, circa un centinaio di varietà che offrono una spettacolare fioritura verso fine maggio, dalla Chapeau de Napoleon, alla Banksia gialla senza spine, per passere dalle rose antiche come la Perl d’Or alle più moderne come la Satina.
In primavera crescono varie Viole e Primule intercalate da Crochi, Narcisi, Tulipani, Giacinti, Allium, Gigli e Bulbi dai molti colori.
Un angolo del giardino superiore viene chiamato la Tavolozza di Colori a giusto titolo. Nel susseguirsi della bella stagione molte varietà di Iris fioriscono da quelli nani a quelli molto alti e annunciano la spettacolare fioritura delle Rose, contornate da Campanule, Dianthus ed Armerie. Nel corso dell’estate tante bordure e fiori creano piacevoli macchie di colore attorno alle varietà di Ortensie, Peonie, di Crocosmia e Hamerocallis fino ad arrivare alla fioritura settembrina del vialetto di Zephirantes Candida e degli Aster.
Un nuovo angolo di graminacee è stato recentemente creato per dare un tocco di modernità. La stagione finisce con la fioritura di Ciclamini, Crisantemi e Nerine e nell’assonato inverno qua e là rimangono fioriti gli Ellebori e persino una bella rosa.
Il giardino superiore è più informale e una buona parte è dedicata alla coltivazione di ortaggi biologici, arbusti e qualche albero da frutta.
Da alcuni anni è tradizione aprire il giardino al pubblico una domenica di maggio.

This garden is the result of fervent and loving passion brought forth by the last two owners of this beautiful property, who have carefully chosen flowers and plants of many varieties with love to ensure there is something in bloom at every time of the year. There are many exuberant blooms, which at times, are noticeably discrete in their arrival. Several rare varieties have been collected over the years, largely classified by their scientific names.
Great care has also been taken to select robust plants that have specific characteristics, like resistance to winter frost and more notably to frequent summer drought periods, as well as, periods of intense rainfall in spring and fall. Another selective criterion was to have perennial edges which are evergreen, so that there is only minimal maintenance work required.
In the spring, various Violets and Primules grow intercalate with a mixture of Crochus, Narcissus, Tulips, Hyacinths, Alliums, Lilies and Bulbs of many colours. A corner of the top garden is called the Multicolored Palette and is the result of dedication and hard work.
The roses deserve a special mention, as there are approximately a hundred varieties that offer a spectacular bloom at the end of May. The garden also boasts the majestic Chapeau de Napoleon and the beautiful yellow Banksia, as well as, ancient roses like the Perl d'Or and the more modern Satina.
In the succession of the seasons, many Iris varieties flourish, from the dwarfs to the very tall and announce the spectacular bloom of the Roses, surrounded by Campanule and Armeria Marittima. During the summer, many borders and flowers create an all around pleasing and colourful atmosphere thanks to the varieties of Hydrangeas, Peonys, Crocosmias and Hamerocallis culminating with the Asters blooming and the Zephirantes Candida.
A new corner of graminaceae has recently been created to give the garden a touch of the modern. The season ends with the bloom of Cyclamens, Chrysanthemum and Nerina Boowdenii and in the solitude of winter there remain flowers, evergreen bushes and even the occasional beautiful single rose.
It is tradition to open the garden to the public on a Sunday in late spring to share the spectacular varieties of beautiful flowers, exchange the gift of knowledge, comradery and trade the secrets of cultivating rare plants and flowers, which is an extension of the passion started by the forbearers of this special place. It is a legacy left for that special someone who will in turn honour and cherish the history of this magical place.
