THE COPORAL OF BOLSENA. In 1263 a Eucharistic miracle occurred in Bolsena (Orvieto), Italy. The consecrated Host began to bleed onto the Corporal cloth the host and chalice were resting on. What is il Palio di Siena?..

This is not just any horse race, Il Palio di Siena is held twice a year on July 2 and August 16.

Palio is a race of rivals. The competition between the contrade, (districts) with part of the game being to prevent a rival from winning. When the winning silk is presented to the victorious ward the spectacular celebrations start immediately and are something to behold. The rider's race ba****ck three times around the circular Piazza del Campo in the city centre. The winner is the first horse to cross the line, with or without its jockey. The race is preceded by a spectacular pageant, the Corteo Storico, which includes flag wavers in medieval costumes and a squad of carabinieri on horseback, wielding swords, demonstrating a mounted charge around the track.

Enjoy an aperitvo and Home-cooked family style Dinner after a long travel day

MONDAY, Oct 23….. THE MUSHROOM HUNT

We will es**rt you to a beautiful private location where you and your guests will discover an array of wild mushrooms. Accompanied by our mycologist, you and your guests will set out on a quest to learn about the different variety of wild grown mushrooms as well as foraging some for mushroom filled lunch that day.

TUESDAY, Oct 24… HOMEMADE PASTA AND PIZZA

Our specialty is fresh pasta. Learn the simple and delicious recipe for homemade Italian pasta. We will fire up our 800 degree wood oven, and teach you and your guests the art of making pasta and pizza.

WEDNESDAY, Oct 25… SAUSAGE DAY!!!

We will teach you and your guests the art of filleting, grinding , seasoning and filling, the most fantastic sausage you will have ever eaten. We will slow cook it on our special BBQ and enjoy a meal to be remembered.

THURSDAY, OCT 26….. DEPARTURE DAY

Although our time together will come to an end, you will take home with you some fantastic memories, recipes and a very full belly of laughter, love and appreciation for the very simple things.
