The Canyon

The Necropolis

The Domus de Janas Sincantu is one of the four tombs that make up the necropolis of Monte Siseri in Putifigari. It was discovered in 1989 and dates back to the Late Neolithic and Eneolithic periods (3200-2600 BC). It is one of the most spectacular prehistoric tombs in Sardinia.

Features

The interior of the tomb features a double-pitched roof carved into the rock, majestic columns, and various symbols related to prehistoric cults. Additionally, inside we can find red and black ochre decorations on the walls and ceiling. Unfortunately, the site is not managed, and to visit it, you need to contact the municipality of Putifigari.

Tahiti

Cala Coticcio, also known as “Tahiti”, is one of the most enchanting beaches in the entire La Maddalena Archipelago.
It is a true gem for nature and hiking enthusiasts. In addition to reaching it by sea, you can also visit the beach via a trail of approximately 1.6 km, which takes around 40 minutes to walk through Caprera’s wild and unspoiled landscape.

The Beach

Surrounded by distinctive pink granite rocks and Mediterranean scrub, this secluded cove offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, where the deep blue of the sea blends with the lush green of the surrounding vegetation.
As it is a protected area, access is limited and visitors must book a guided tour through the park authority’s website.

Sea, mountains…

Behind it lies the fascinating expanse of the rugged Sulcis mountains, while ahead stretches the deep blue, untamed sea, the wildest in all of Sardinia.
Nestled in a landscape of rare beauty, Buggerru is now a small tourist town with a population of around 1,000, just one fifth of what it was a century ago.

…and mines

Already known to the Romans for its silver deposits, Buggerru saw more than one million tonnes of zinc and 200,000 tonnes of lead extracted over little more than a century.
It was known as “Petit Paris” because of the atmosphere created by the French company that owned the mining facilities for its managers and their families.
Today, Buggerru is an open-air museum, with the Henry Gallery overlooking the modern marina, the former Mining Administration Building, and the remains of shafts and mining machinery scattered throughout the area.

Features

These cliffs are located on the Sinis Peninsula, between the municipalities of Cabras and San Vero Milis.
They stretch for approximately 2 km and reach heights of around 25 metres above sea level.
The cliffs, with their distinctive white appearance, are made up of carbonate and limestone rocks, shaped over time by the relentless action of the sea and the Mistral wind.

Activities

Su Tingiosu is an ideal place to immerse yourself in the landscape of the Sinis Peninsula through hiking and mountain biking.
The trails follow the coastline, offering close-up views of the towering cliffs, secluded coves, and numerous cavities carved into the rock by the relentless force of the sea. It is a landscape best explored at a leisurely pace, where the trail, the rock, and the sea become part of the same experience.
