Sicilian breakfast is not just food — it’s a rhythm. A state of being.
Here in the South, people rarely eat breakfast at home.
You step outside, greet the sun, and let the day begin at its own pace.
After over twenty years on this island, I’ve learned one thing:
morning is not for rushing. It’s for beauty.
⸻
🍓 My favorite summer breakfast?
Granita Siciliana — that iconic, icy sorbet.
It can be pistachio, lemon, coffee, wild strawberry…
Or — like today — mulberry, my personal favorite.
And of course, a warm sweet brioche bun —
soft, fragrant, melt-in-your-mouth.
And only then — a perfect espresso.
(Not a second before.)
⸻
Today, my day started differently.
Not at 5:30. Not at 6:30.
But slowly, softly, in full Sicilian mode.
I walked to my favorite café. Ordered my granita.
Exchanged smiles and stories.
Watched the city wake up.
And suddenly… I felt that quiet pleasure.
That gentle stillness.
That “I don’t need to rush” feeling.
⸻
🌿 Here in Sicily, breakfast isn’t a task.
It’s a ritual of presence.
A pause before the world spins again.
Even I, always in motion, need mornings like this.
To breathe. To feel. To just be.
⸻
✨ Would you like to start your morning like this?
Mulberry granita at sunrise,
in a hidden baroque town,
under the Mediterranean sky?
I know where to take you.
