Episode 3: The Final Days

In the third and final part of our journey through Puglia and Basilicata, we head into the dramatic landscapes of the Lucanian Dolomites, where rocky peaks, rolling hills, and charming villages reveal another side of southern Italy.

We explored the hilltop village of Pietrapertosa, enjoyed the warm hospitality of a family-run agriturismo, and rounded off our adventure with a countryside walk, a picnic by the lake, and a hands-on cooking class celebrating the flavors of the region.

Beautiful landscapes, authentic local experiences, and wonderful food — a fitting end to a memorable week on the trail.

Our Puglia journey continues, and this time we're heading for the sea. 🌊

After the hills and the trulli, the landscape changes completely. Rocky coastal paths, wild Mediterranean scrub and the deep blue Adriatic stretched out ahead of us, with a few steep climbs along the way and a view worth every step.

We stopped at a quiet cove where wooden fishing boats rest on the pebbles, and a few of us couldn't resist a swim. 🌞

Then on to Monopoli, with its whitewashed lanes, wrought-iron balconies, church bell tower and an old harbour where blue boats still bob in front of centuries-old palazzi. ⚓

We're back from Puglia, and what a trip it was! 🌿

Over the next few days we'll be sharing the highlights of our walking journey through the heel of Italy, starting right at the beginning.

Our first two days took us into the fairytale world of Alberobello, where our guide explained how the famous trulli were built, with dry-stone roofs and no mortar. After that, we settled into the peace of the masseria, with its pool, olive trees and slow, sunny afternoons.

Then we set off on foot across the gentle hills of the Itria Valley, until Locorotondo appeared on the horizon, glowing white in the evening light. We ended the day the best way possible: around a table, with a glass of local rosé and the story of the people who make it. 🍷

Back from our latest tour in Piedmont: the beauty of the Maira Valley. 🍂

**Back from our September tour in Piedmont! 🍂**

We're sharing a few favorite moments from our *Piedmont Peaks and Valleys* tour in the beautiful Maira Valley.

Surrounded by soaring peaks, emerald alpine lakes, and quiet beech forests, we spent the week exploring one of Piedmont's most captivating and unspoiled corners.

Our hikes took us along ancient mountain trails and into charming stone villages, where local traditions and warm hospitality are still very much alive.

Add delicious regional cuisine, welcoming mountain locandas, and wonderful Piedmont w**es, and you have all the ingredients for a memorable walking holiday.

We got back just a few days ago from our **Dolomites Light Hike**, and we’re still thinking about those mountains! 🏔️

Most people picture Tuscany as vineyards, cypress trees and rolling hills. But in the northwest corner of the region, it explodes upward into jagged limestone peaks: the Apuan Alps.

This landscape began as an ancient seabed. Millions of years of pressure folded it into mountains, and water carved it into caves, gorges and cliffs. That same rock, squeezed by heat and time deep underground, became the marble Michelangelo used to carve the David.

It's a side of Tuscany most travelers never see, quieter and wilder than the vineyards.
