3 breathtaking viewpoints you should add to your Lake Como bucket list

📍 Monte San Primo
The highest mountain in the Lake Como area (1,682 m / 5,518 ft), offering spectacular views of both branches of the lake and the surrounding Alps. It's considered one of the most panoramic spots in the entire region.
📍 San Martino Church (Griante)
A short uphill walk rewards you with one of the most iconic views on Lake Como: Bellagio sitting right where the two branches of the lake meet. Many locals consider this one of the best viewpoints on the lake.
📍 Faro Voltiano (Brunate)

The ancient trail that once connected Lake Como to the rest of Europe
Long before roads and ferries, there was a path connecting mountain villages above Lake Como.
Today it's known as the Via dei Monti Lariani, one of the most spectacular long-distance hiking routes in Northern Italy.

📍 The trail runs for about 125 km (78 miles) along the western side of Lake Como, from Cernobbio to Sorico, passing through forests, alpine pastures, historic hamlets, and incredible viewpoints overlooking the lake.

Highlights along the route:
🥾 Cernobbio → Monte Bisbino
🏔️ Sasso Gordona and its historic military fortifications
🌿 Hidden mountain settlements once used by local shepherds
🌊 Endless panoramic views over Lake Como from 600–1,200 meters above the shoreline
What makes this trail special is that it follows ancient routes that connected communities across the mountains long before modern transportation existed. Many sections are still paved with old mule tracks and pass through places that feel unchanged by time.

Good to know:
You don't need to hike all 125 km. Many travelers enjoy individual sections as day hikes, especially around Cernobbio, Val d'Intelvi, Menaggio, and the Alto Lago area.

Lake Como’s most spectacular summer event is coming back!
📅 Saturday, June 27, 2026
The famous Sagra di San Giovanni returns to Isola Comacina, one of the lake's most beloved traditions and arguably its most spectacular summer event. Every year, around 20,000 spectators gather to watch the incredible pyromusical show over the water.

What makes it so special?
🎆 Nearly 19,000 fireworks are expected to light up the sky above the lake.
🔥 The famous symbolic "burning of the island", recreated with around 500 red torches, commemorating the historical destruction of Isola Comacina in 1169.
🎵 Fireworks synchronized with music, creating a truly unique atmosphere.

Important information for visitors:
🚗 The lakeside Regina Road (SS340) is expected to be closed between Argegno and Lenno from approximately 8:00 PM to midnight.
🚌 A free shuttle service is planned between Menaggio and Lenno before and after the event, helping visitors avoid traffic and parking issues.
⏰ Arrive early. The area gets extremely busy, and traffic around the central lake can become very congested hours before the show starts.

Just a few weeks after the famous Concorso d'Eleganza, Lake Como will once again become a paradise for classic car lovers. This time, the spotlight will be on one of Italy's most legendary automobiles: the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS "Coupé Villa d'Este".

The event, called "One Lake, One Car", celebrates the iconic model that won the original Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in 1949 and later took its name from the event itself. Only a handful of these extraordinary cars still exist today.
