🍂Three things you might not know about Abruzzo region:

1. It's one of Europe's most protected regions

Almost one-third of Abruzzo is designated as National parks or nature reserves. This makes It one of the greenest regions in Italy and home to rare wildlife like the Marsican brown bear , Appennine wolf and golden eagles.

2. Its villages are among Italy's "most beautiful"

Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Civitella del Tronto and Pacentro feel frozen in time and are perfect for slow travel.

3. You can ski and go to the beach on the same day

The Appennines rise close to the coast and the Adriatic sea, for a unique "mountains to the sea" experience

🌿 Just 20 km from Verona lies a land of rolling green pastures, beech forests, ancient stone hamlets, and traditional malghe (mountain dairies).

Once home to the Cimbri, Bavarian mountain dwellers who arrived in 1287 to clear forests and produce charcoal, their heritage still echoes through the traditions, architecture, and way of life.

This is Lessinia, where history, nature, and gastronomy come together in perfect harmony. A perfect day trip or mountain escape if you’re visiting Verona! 🏞️

Explore breathtaking hiking trails, discover the art of cheesemaking with a tasting in a typical malga, or experience the magic of moonlit excursions combined with gastronomy under the stars. ✨

We featured this incredible land in our March newsletter, don’t miss our Summer edition on June 1st! Subscribe now --> https://bywaysofitaly.com/newsletter/
