Spring in Rome.
Switching from cold to very warm weather with days when temperatures drop suddenly.
Near Rome mountains are still snowcapped but wisteria, poppies and wild flowers are taking over.

Bad habits of the visitors who cannot refrain from tossing coins everywhere and by doing so they could harm other people and also damage marble and other artifacts because coins oxidate and corrode and often leave a green patina.

If you visit the Sistine Chapel now and until Easter you will see the restorers at work. They are cleaning Michelangelo's Last Judgement using japanese paper to remove the white layer due to perspiration. With heat and the many thousands of daily visitors the colours started to change slightly.

A morning spent with colleagues on the Janiculum hill on the footsteps of Garibaldi and the struggles for the Roman Republic in 1849.
The Janiculum offers great panoramic views over the city and the daily cannon shooting at noon.

From today until the week before Easter Michelangelo's Last Judgement will be under restoration.

Ha preso avvio un nuovo intervento di pulitura sul Giudizio universale di Michelangelo: per circa tre mesi i restauratori dei Musei Vaticani opereranno nella Ca****la Sistina senza interrompere l’accesso di fedeli e visitatori.
